An 4.4 Richter scale earthquake took place this morning in Tumbes region, in the north coast of Peru, reports the Geophysical Institute.

The seismic event was registered at 8:56 am and its epicenter was located around 9km to the south of Tumbes, at a 64km of depth.

According to the Geophysics institute, the earthquake was felt with an intensity of II in the Mercalli scale in Tumbes.

The National Civil Defense Institute has not reported any personal or material damages; however, it warns that they keep all their systems in alert, to be ready for an immediate response in case of any natural disaster.
