Staying with Blogger after lack of import/export support

I have tried different work arounds to get my 2,000+ Blogger posts into Wordpress.

1. establish a wordpress.com hosted blog, try to import

2. establish a new Blogspot.com hosted blog with existing Google account, try to import in Wordpress from succesfully imported Blogger->Blogspot posts: failed. Connection refused.

3. establish a new Blogspot.com hosted blog with a new Google account. Same results.

Conclusion: though Blogger now officially supports import/export to 1 atom XML format, Wordpress simply cannot import that XML or get connected to my Google accounts to do the magic. If anyone can show me a proven solution, feel free to contact! For now, I'll stay with Blogger :-)
