These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms
Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms
There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones
Now the sun's gone to hell
And the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms
Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Sing like nobody's listening.
Live like it's Heaven on Earth.
(Anyone who has ever dressed a child will love this)
Did you hear about the teacher who was helping one of her reception class pupils put on his boots?
He asked for help and she could see why Even with her pulling and him pushing, the little boots still didn't want to go on. By the time they got the second boot on, she had worked up a sweat.
She almost cried when the little boy said, 'Teacher, they're on the wrong feet. '
She looked, and sure enough, they were. It wasn't any easier pulling the boots off than it was putting them on. She managed to keep her cool as, together, they worked to get the boots back on, this time on the right feet.
He then announced, 'These aren't my boots.'
She bit her tongue, rather than get right in his face and scream, 'Why didn't you say so? ' like she wanted to.
Once again she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off his little feet. No sooner had they gotten the boots off when he said, 'They're my brother's boots. My Mum made me wear 'em.'
Now she didn't know if she should laugh or cry. But she mustered up what grace and courage she had left to wrestle the boots on his feet again.
Helping him into his coat, she asked, 'Now, where are your mittens? 'He said, 'I stuffed 'em in the toes of my boots.'
She will be eligible for parole in three years.
I was silly some days ago and made up the following story of tweets. I don’t mean any harm to actual living persons.
That reminds me of a girl I knew when in South East Asia. Her name was "Oh Kay".
"Oh Kay" had a cousin called "Oh Noh". They both got a scholarship and ended up in Ohmaha.
At College "Oh Kay" never dated the boys. "Oh Noh" did date the boys in Omaha, but she soon find out, where they were after
After College "Oh Kay" met a boy called "Yew un Mie" and they then moved to NYC, to live in Queens.
"Oh Noh" stayed in Omaha and became a Republican. She's, you guessed it, against HCR.
"Oh Noh" is now married to another Republican "Me Me"
"Oh Kay" and "Yew un Mie" own a business in Queens NYC. They sell insurances and call themselves: "Yew un Mie Oh Kay Company"
"Oh Noh" and "Me Me" have a daughter: "Me Oh Sarah", who thinks she can write a book about rogues in Politics.
"Me Oh Sarah" writes under the name "Oh Me Sarah". She once had a partner called "Jon Mak Cane" but they fell out inside 6 months.
"Oh Kay" and "Yew un Mie" have a son: "Oh Yew un Osoh Guhd", who is now a lawyer in Queens NY. He has a partner "Noh Waay".
"Oh Yew un Osoh Guhd" and "Noh Waay" have a law firm called "Waay Osoh Guhd" next to a Queens Hospital.
"Me Oh Sarah" has a new Liberal boy friend called: "Oh Bamah". It seems they are doing well together and are getting married soon.
"Me Oh Sarah" and "Oh Bamah" are expecting a baby. They are thinking up names.
"Me Oh Sarah" and "Oh Bamah" have a dog called "Newt" and a cat called "Pelosi". The pets can't stand each other.
"Osoh Guhd" has a girl friend: "Yew Meen It", she's a surgeon in the Hospital next door. Her boss is called: Dr. "C.U.T. Finer".
When "Osoh Guhd" and "Yew Meen It" have a baby, they will call her: "Oh My Gawd".
"Me Oh Sarah" and "Oh Bamah" have chosen a name for their first child: "Yew Nite".
Maybe "Yew Nite" and "Oh My Gawd" will meet one day and have the best US public health care insurance there is!!
The other day, before I went watching the Woodstock ’69 documentary on BBC4, I was reminded of something.
I started tweeting some things that some found funny and entertaining. As all tweets on the web are now not in synchronisation, I thought of putting the tweets in the right order., so here goes, without being disrespectful to any actual living person or country.
If I ever go to the Far East again, I hope to meet the girl I know as "Chew-Mi" in Hong Kong!
If I am correct someone called Moore married Chew-Mi. She calls herself Chew-Mi Moore now. They have a daughter : Slight-Li, OK, U guessed it?
Chew-Mi Moore & husband, also now have a baby boy: "Lil-Wi". Wonder if he will like Johnnie Cash's song "Sue" when he grows up to be a lawyer
Think you all now know why Chew-Mi didn't marry Sidney A.T. Home (pronounced "Hume" as in Sir Alec Douglas-Home).Moore is a Judge and rich!
Chew-Mi had a cousin too, his name is Fok-Yew, he became famous in NK as he is an adviser to the president of NK. Hence what he says to USA!
When Chew-Mi's cousin Fok-Yew came to the US, he was arrested at LAX for when the Immigration Officer asked his name, he felt he was insulted!
Guess which law office represented Fok-Yew? Dewy, Cheatum & Howe
The name of the Judge in Fok-Yew's case was: "Judge Twice A.S.S. Much"! Fok-Yew was sent back to NK. Ever since he says, his name before USA
Chew-Mi has a cousin in Detroit who has used her name for his Chinese Take-away called: "Chew- Mi More"
Chew-Mi has a cousin in Vietnam. His name is Pfuew-Knuw-Mi
"Pfuew-Knuw-Mi" is married to "On-Li". She is a very depressed woman I bet, when she tells who she is. A solitary woman in Vietnam
Pfuew-Knuw-Mi and wife On-li have a son named: "Hel-Loh". Told he is a happy fellow. Don't think he will have just 1 girl friend when a teen
On-Li Pfuew-Knuw-Mi has a Latina niece in Florida, she's a singer and has some big name and something else and is called: Djay Loh.
Djay Loh, niece of On-Li Pfuew-Knuw-Mi, went for a tattoo in Miami. On her lower back she now has "All mine" tattooed!
Djay Loh says the tattoo is for her boy friend, who came from Vietnam. His name is "Ghoh Dhoun-On". Seems to me they fit together.
Just found out, Ghoh Dhoun-On his dad went in China to school with Chew-Mi's mother before she came to Hong Kong. Guess that is a round circle
Hope you enjoyed this.
Around the coasts of Africa and South America there are people who live from the sea. No this blog is not about pirates, but about the local fishermen.
Some time ago, I saw a most disturbing documentary about large EU fishing vessels of the coast of East Africa. If I remember correctly, they were there for they could not catch fish legally in the surrounding seas of Europe. But what those large ships did was, take away the livelihood of many local people. Those who live in Africa & South America and who try to earn a living for themselves and their family were thus deprived of their fish or caught much less than when the EU ships were around.
If it happens around Africa then it must also happen around the coasts of South America, for I believe there are, or used to be, fish everywhere there is a sea or an ocean. But my question is: “Why should EU fishermen fish so far off their own country?”
Is it due to the quota’s set by the EU countries? That is one reason I can think of. But with the quota’s come waste. I really don’t know how the quota’s work, but what I gather from recent news items is that many a fish is returned dead to the sea. It seems the fishermen are obliged to do so for if they bring those fish on land and they are caught, they get at least a monetary fine. I don’t know what happens to them when they are caught many times over.
Has anyone thought of this: Let the fishermen keep the “over catch” on board, if caught in the EU region. Register the amounts and let the proceeds of over catch, go directly into UN special fish funds. Or process the over catch and have the, I presume, canned products be sent to all African nations and distributed among the poor and needy. All without interference of (corrupt) governments. Use the money in the funds for the processing and the shipping. Should all be on the basis of non-profit.
I don’t know what happens to the dead fish that are thrown back into the seas. Are they food for other fishes or larger sea animals? In decomposing don’t the dead fish get toxic for others?
If the decomposing fish are no threat to other fish and thus do have benefits, then I guess it is another story, but in my opinion still a waste of food.
Now I come back to the EU fishermen around Africa and maybe even South America. If they want to fish there, have them pay dearly for an all Africa or South American licence and have it mandatory that the catch is brought to the shores of the country closest to the place the fish was caught. The caught fish is then partly sold on that local market at their prices so the local people will benefit. The other part shall have to be distributed for free to the poor and needy. I guess one can calculate the percentage of the poor and needy in each country.
From the local proceeds, the EU fishermen and from other non African or non South American ships may only take home, say 10 percent for their costs and no more. I guess they will then stay away from the shores of Africa and South America.
Now there has to be a solution for the fact that, I guess, fish is not caught equally along all African nations that have shores. So it could be such that not all the countries get an even part of the caught fish. Without getting into local bureaucracy and the said corruption in many countries, one possibility is a UN funded 24/7 fish distribution office. The technology on the fishing ships is, in my humble opinion, such that the captain can call in after a catch and the UN distribution office directs the captain to the port where the catch can be unloaded. He will have to give the GPS coordinates of the fishing grounds too. Without such a document, via email or fax with copy to port directed to, the catch will be forfeited and the captain and owners heavily sanctioned, like say the ship is seized. There are GPS satellites so, just like planes, every ship (should have or) has a call sign and can be checked.
The object of all these thoughts is to:
- stop the waste of food,
- have food distributed to nations that have food poverty,
- stop or curb foreign (western) nations catching fish of the coasts of Africa and South America,
- have the proceeds evenly distributed to those counties where the fish is caught and the inland countries,
- keep local fishermen in the position of earning their livelihood,
- curb or maybe erase local corruption, by keeping all in hand of a UN funded organisation,
- heavy sanctions for those captains or owner of ships, who do not comply,
and
the ultimate goal should be, the end of starvation.
Read about how Demi Moore got into the news due to her being on Twitter. Seems Facebook members too, can be helpful to some.
What happens if a person let others know of their intention to “step out of life” and there is no immediate on line response? Where is this all leading to? Do we now all have to be more careful with followers? Screening them before you add them as friends.
What if you yourself are a bit down on a day and are on Facebook or Twitter for some smiles and social small talk or tweets? Can you have enough energy for, usually, a (former) stranger? And how about being a sensitive person and being confronted with sad intentions?
How many will be left, after the fact, thinking: “I should have done something.” or “Could I have done something to prevent it happening?”
Will there be stories later like”: “he/she cried wolf three times”?
Let’s just hope we don’t get into such a situation, but, there will be people who will do the same thing, now they know it could end up in the news.
For those who have lost their way, just remember: “It could be a way out for you, but you leave behind much sorrow and grief and usually to those who don’t deserve it.”
Take counselling for there are still sunshine’s in your life to be.
and you lose points in Twitter grader! Don't all the views count?
SALARY AND ALLOWANCES
MPs are paid an annual salary of £63,291 and receive allowances for the costs of running an office, having homes both near Westminster and in their constituency, and travelling between both. According to the last figures to be published, in October 2007, the average claimed by each MP was £135,600 a year. They also have a final salary pension scheme and can choose to set contributions at 5.5% of their salary with a current "accrual" rate - the proportion of salary received for each year of service - of 1/60th, at 6% of salary for a 1/50th accrual rate, or 10% of salary for a 1/40th accrual rate.
And then there are the normal folks at home who pay TV licence and Internet connection out of own pocket. Do they have a tax allowance for that?
