Looking forward to hearing you soon. Sometimes it's good to hear a friendly voice.
I am hoping to update my voice blog more regularly.

I celebrated my blogosversary yesterday.
I remember I lived in Puerto Rico when I started blogging. After running an e-magazine since 2002, I converted my website into a blog in 2004. I haven't stopped blogging since. I moved to NYC in 2005 and continued my blog without any issues. That's why I love the Internet.
As time has passed, I have worked with volunteer writers and photographers. I have covered stories on interesting people who are making a difference in their fields and in the Puerto Rican/Latino community.
I have learned a thing or two about the business side of blogging too. My blog has undergone several designs.
I have branched out, using many of the social networking sites as a way of promoting my blog and building traffic. I have even started PRSUN Radio, an online radio show at blogtalkradio.com.
I have also gone offline to participate in community, cultural and artistic events. Earlier this year, for example, I was a panelist at the New York Grassroots Media conference and a new media workshop titled CyberBoricua Chicas, both in Manhattan; and I curated a photo show as part of the NetWorks Organization's business networking event in the Bronx. It is just as important -- if not more important -- to do this kind of outreach to promote my blog.
I try to respond to comments made and e-mails received.
Throughout the years, my blog has remained true to its mission of informing, empowering and building community.
Today, I reflect on my years as a blogger. I thank my visitors and supporters always.
Changes are coming. TBA.
For now, I celebrate my five years of blogging.

Yesterday, I went to St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx with my mom and her friend Ana. We went to visit Ana's mom Emiliana. I think of Emiliana as an adopted grandma. You see both of my grandmothers lived in Puerto Rico. Emiliana lived in the South Bronx and used to visit my family regularly when I was growing up. She was funny, independent, sweet and somewhat demanding. She used to speak Spanish and play the numbers. I remember I always had to switch my favorite English show on TV when she came to visit for a Spanish telenovela. Sometimes I'd get upset. Back then we only had that one TV set. For holidays, Emiliana would bring me a gift. It was sometimes a toy and other times something to wear. Nice memories from my childhood. RIP Emiliana. I remember the day I found out she died. I was in college. Emiliana fell one day on a South Bronx street and died in the hospital. Emiliana was always walking to the end. I will always remember that feisty boricua.
Happy Mother's Day. We can never forget those mothers who are no longer with us. I am blessed to have my mom in my life.

Here's a photo I shot yesterday. Many of these murals (especially those in tribute to local dead people) are being painted over in New York City, so I try to document those I see. I focused in on the part of the mural that highlights the Puerto Rican flag. (photo by Clarisel Gonzalez)

I have been documenting through photography different Holy Week celebrations at Catholic churches in the Bronx.
I spent Palm Sunday at St. Roch's; Holy Thursday at St. Jerome's; and Good Friday outdoor processions at St. Pius V and St. Thomas Aquinas parishes.

The ASPCA celebrates Go Orange for Animals month in April as a way of bringing awareness about the issue of prevention of cruelty to animals.
I shot a few photos of my favorite cats and dog and the color orange. I have more to post. To view the photos I've posted so far, go to flickr.com/photos/clarisel
