I Hate To Say I Told You So

I hate to say this because it means that damned healthcare bill passed, but I predicted this on at least two sites long before its passage, both on the site linked to my name as well as another.

The whole idea of the GOP defunding Obamacare is a terrific reason to vote for Republicans this coming November.

Here are just a few of the examples of me being ahead of the curve, unfortunate as it may be in this case:

Impeach President Obama? Why Not Allow Democracy to Take its Course?

Calling for Obama's Impeachment is Poor Political Strategy

Barack Obama been an absolutely abhorrent President to date, and there is no doubt about that. However, with that said, calling for his impeachment at this stage of his Presidency is probably going a bit too far.

America has had it's share of bad President's in the past (remember Jimmy Carter?), and the nation survived with only minimal fall-out.

Impeach ObamaIn light of the purported dispute between the White House and Israel, my inclination is to suspect that this is to serve as a diversion away from a cooperative plan to deal with Iran prior to Obama's reelection.

If indeed there is a real, legitimate dispute between the United States and Israel at this point in time, it is almost certainly regarding the timing of the coordinated military effort to destroy Iran's nuclear weapons facilities.

Israel in all likelihood is beyond ready to move forward with the plan, while the Obama Administration likely would prefer to delay any military assault against Iran until his 2012 reelection bid nears. The reason for this is that in light of the unprecedented disaster the first year-and-a-half of his Presidency has been, he and advisor David Axelrod are well aware that an ongoing military campaign (i.e. "a war") is about the only thing at this point that could put him back into contention for winning a second term as President.

November's elections will reestablish checks and balances on the system, and democracy - if permitted to - will do what it was intended to do, and establish checks on Obama's power for the remaining two years of his soon-to-be lame-duck Presidency.

What seemingly a majority of Americans have either forgotten or were ignorant of to begin with is that this scenario has played out before in American politics, and relatively recently at that.

There is a recent post at the Mainstream180 Blog explaining the political dynamics of the American Government from 1992-1994, and the historical similarities between that two year period and the situation involving Obama, Pelosi and the Healthcare Bill today.

The Mainstream180 post is entitled: Democrats Have Short Memories, But An Elephant Never Forgets. It breaks down the political dynamics from a strategic and historical perspective, and comes highly recommended by your's truly.

A related post was recently published to American-Government.us, a site covering news, opinions and commentary about the American Government. That post was entitled: Real Vote on Obamacare Takes Place this November, and it explained how if Republicans can gain a majority in the House of Representatives in November, they could retroactively kill any measure passed between now and then.

All-in-all, the President and his party have been ramming unwanted legislation down the throats of the American people, but calling for his impeachment is still a bit premature at this point. After all, he was elected by the vote of the people. Perhaps Americans might learn from this experience that elections do indeed have consequences, which could lead to a repeat of '94 this coming November.

Seriously, the best way to neutralize Obama's agenda now is not to call for his impeachment, but rather to vote out as many House and Senate Democrats as possible this November to reestablish check-and-balances in Washington, and force the President to compromise once in a while before being replaced by a Republican President in 2012.

Vitamin D3 Deficiency in Pregnant Mothers May Increase Risk of Autism, ADHD

Nurse Practitioner, Diabeted Educator and Health Columnist Pamela B. Egan wrote a guest-post recently at VitaminD3Blog.com in which she shed light on the possible relationship between Autism, ADD/ADHD and a vitamin d3 deficiency in the mother throughout the pregnancy.

While Nurse Practitioner Egan stopped short of attributing these medical conditions solely to extreme deficiencies of this critical nutrient in the mothers of children diagnosed with the conditions during and throughout the pregnancy, she did say that new and incresing reasearch indicated that combined with genetic predispositions, vitamin d3 deficiency is indeed a major factor in the prenatal development of Autism and ADHD.

Naked Pictures From Airport Scanners Being Printed, Shared

These Airport Perverts Just Won't Stop!

Naked pictures from full-body scan devices being used at airports around the world in the name of security are being printed and shared by the airport staff in charge of passenger screening.

This from PrisonPlanet.com:

Claims on behalf of authorities that naked body scanner images are immediately destroyed after passengers pass through new x-ray backscatter devices have been proven fraudulent after it was revealed that naked images of Indian film star Shahrukh Khan were printed out and circulated by airport staff at Heathrow in London.

I had tried to submit this directly to Mixx, but for some reason Mixx did not recognize the URL as being valid. Instead, I posted here on my Twitwall, and hopefully people will see it and read the story, because this is an extremely important story.

It isn't just the British government doing this either. The American government is using these machines as well via the Transportation Security Adminstration (TSA).

People need to know just what these thugs are up to and let their Congressmen and womens as well as their Senators know that we will not stand for this - not even in the name of security.

David Vitter Speaks at Event in Abita Springs, LA

The St. Tammany Parish Republican Parish Executive Committee (RPEC) holds an annual year-end banquet in which awards are distributed to the Parish's most dedicated Republicans, and a big-name speaker is typically invited to deliver the keynote speech.

For the 2009 awards banquet, that speaker was none other than U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-LA).

I was lucky enough to receive a last-minute invitation, and arrived just in time to hear the GOP Senator speak. The speech was quite good, although he certainly was not in 'campaign mode' at the time.

In any case, considering I was on the fence about going and decided to anyway, I am very pleased with the decision. I got to meet a member of the U.S. Senate, chat with him for a good few minutes, and even get a couple of photos taken with him.

All-in-all, I consider that a lucky twist of fate for a night I had been planning on staying home and not going anywhere.

For what it's worth, the Abita Quail Farm in Abita Springs, Louisiana knows how to throw a pretty nice party, so needless to say the food was good and the drinks nice and cold.

Senator Vitter, thank you for taking the time to spend talking with me and posing along with me for the photograph.

What is Trichinosis?

Trichinosis: Roundworm Infection Resulting From Undercooked Meat

Trichinosis is an infection within the walls of the digestive tract that is the result of the roundworm trichinella. The trichinella worm and its resulting infection are relatively rare in humans, however the CDC (Centers of Disease Control and Prevention) reports several new documented cases each year.

Trichinosis infections are most commonly spread when humans consume raw and/or undercooked meat. This is particularly true of both pork and bear meat.

The symptoms of trichinosis include fever, cramping, abdominal discomfort and severe, painful, and even explosive diarrhea.

The trichinella worm is a parasite, and in light of its negative symptoms, it is in one's best interests to take whatever preventative measures possible to avoid ingesting the worm and developing the resulting trichinosis infection. These measures include making sure that meats are fully cooked prior to consumption, and/or avoiding the consumption of bear meat altogether.

Beavis and Motherhood

Beavis and Butt-Head Episode - "Pregnant Pause"

Beavis (from the old 90's cartoon Beavis and Butt-Head), has his first real pregnancy scare when he begins experiencing morning sickness and food cravings and overhears pregnant women discussing those and other symptoms of pregnancy that Beavis has been experiencing.

He decides a pregnancy test is the best way to go, returns home and goes into the bathroom holding his breath afraid of what the test might reveal.

After spending days in agony contemplating the possibility that he may be pregnant and would soon thereafter have to endure the burdens of motherhood, Beavis is thrilled to discover he isn't pregnant, and instead had been severely constipated, which led him into believing he was pregnant.

AR-15 Rifle

The AR-15 Assault Rifle

January 20, 2010

Very nice photograph and accompanying article about the AR-15 Semi-Automatic Assault Rifle.

While many people mistakenly believe that the "AR" in "AR-15" is an abbreviation for the term "assault rifle". This is false. In fact, the term "assault rifle" was concocted by opponents of the Second Amendment for use in political debate, and was intended to serve as a scary word that cojures up negative mental connotations when uttured.

The "AR" in "AR-15" actually stands for "Armalite", the company that initially manufactured the rifle.

As far as performance, the AR-15 is a dependable weapon with just one major flaw: the barrel tends to become overheated very quickly when consecutive rounds are fired in rapid succession, rendering the big gun more fit for recreational use and target shooting than for actual combat, where an AK-47 style of rifle is generally preferred to the AR-15.

How Vitamin D3 Helps Keep You Healthy

Vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, is a critical nutrient that is obtained from direct exposure to sunlight (as well as some foods), that is more bioavailable than other forms of vitamin d. Due to it's superior bioavailability, some health experts believe vitamin d3 dosage recommendations should be reexamined in light of new information.

It is becoming increasingly popular for health experts and medical professionals to actually suggest sunbathing as an activity geared towards improving one's health. The reason is that the presence of healthy levels of vitamin d3 in an individual has been clinically shown to help boost the immune system.

Some other health benefits associated with vitamin d3 intake are healthy skin, nails and bones. It has long been known that vitamin d played a major role in aiding the process through which the body converts calcium to bone mass, and since d3 is more bioavailable than other forms of the nutrient, many health experts believe that this particular form better aids in this process than food-based forms of vitamin d.

Health columnist Pamela Egan, FNP-C, CDE, has written several articles about the importance of vitamin d3, and the role sunlight plays in helping the body to manufacture the nutrient.

Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIA's) - AKA: Mini-Srokes

TIA's: Transient Ischemic Attacks

Article by Health Columnist Pamela B. Egan about a phenomenon known as Transient Ischemic Attacks, or TIA's.  TIA's are often referred to as "mild strokes" or "mini-strokes".  TIA's are essentially short episodes of relatively mild stroke symptoms.

While the symptoms may by mild, anyone who thinks they might have experienced a Transient Ischemic Attack should seek immediate medical attention.  The reason for this is that TIA's are often the first indicators of an upcoming stroke.  Not an upcoming mild stroke, but rather a major one.  They are often the first and sometimes the only warning sign that a major, debilitating and life-altering stroke may be hours or days away.

By being familiar with the symptoms of a Transient Ischemic Attack, one can be aware enough to recognize one when it occurs, and to know seek immediate medical attention and get to a doctor ASAP.  In that sense, knowledge and cognizance of TIA symptoms can actually help save lives if caught early enough.  That is, if the symptoms are observed and acted upon before a major stroke follows.
