Cargill Meat Solutions is recalling 8,500 pounds of ground beef. The meat may be contaminated with E. coli.
It was processed at Cargill's plant in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, then sold at BJ's Wholesale Club stores in eight states on the east coast, including New York.
The affected beef is marked with the USDA establishment number 9400 and a sell or freeze-by date of July 1.
So far, the US Department of Agriculture says two reported illnesses may be connected to the tainted meat, one in Maine and one in New York.

Vaccine programmes grind to a halt in India once more, when four children died after they received the measles vaccination in Lucknow. The four children were reported to have fainted soon after they were vaccinated and witnesses reported seeing the children's eyes roll back as they began to have seizures. All of the children were under the age of two years of age, with the youngest being just six months. Sadly the children died before medical aid workers could reach them.

Another report from Lucknow States: Four children died allegedly after they were administered vaccines at primary health centres near Lucknow. Many children are reported to be sick after the vaccination drive was carried out in Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow.
"Four children in villages of Mannawa, Rampur and Khera died shortly after they were administered measles, BCG and Hepatitis B vaccines by a team of government doctors," Director General, Family Welfare, SP Ram, who rushed to the affected area, said.
Parents say their children became unconscious after being vaccinated and didn't recover.

An investigation has been prompted following health officers’ discovery in Finland, who made an announcement that they were shelving off the vaccination program because of suspected reports of narcolepsy in some people, who had been injected with the vaccine.
Up to now, there have been 27 reports of the alleged narcolepsy in individuals all across the European region, who earlier had been jabbed with Pandemrix, which is the swine flu vaccine manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.
The reason, which tells how narcolepsy stems, has yet not been known.
It can prove to be fatal, if the victims of the condition fall asleep while they are driving or operating machinery.
It is perceived that there are 25,000 people living with the condition in Britain, however, specialists have made an estimation that 80% of the patients are yet undetected.
Once a person is diagnosed with the condition, he is not permitted to drive and the agony is that there is no cure of this long-term condition.
The inquiry will examine if Pandemrix was the possible link to have triggered the condition or if it was just a matter of coincidence.
Another ten cases have sprung up in Sweden, six in France and one in Germany as well as Norway.

New York JTA Wire Service | The Jewish humanitarian agency World Jewish Relief launched an emergency appeal to help the victims of major flooding in northwest Pakistan.
Unprecedented amounts of rain in the northwestern province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa killed more than 1,500 people and affected over 2 million. The monsoon rains are the heaviest to hit Pakistan in 80 years, and have contaminated vital water sources.
The United Kingdom-based World Jewish Relief organization is working with partners on the ground in Pakistan to help provide items such as emergency shelter and immediate health care.
WJR appeal to the UK Jewish community shows their care and concern for the victims of this catastrophic natural disaster.
The purchase of 800 family kits providing support to almost 6,400 persons. The kits are being distributed to those displaced by the floods in the districts of Charsadda, Swat and Nowsherea in Khyber Pakhtunkwa Province.
Each kit consists of rehydration salts, mosquito nets, blankets, kitchen equipment, a floor mat and a plastic sheet for shelter. Assistance towards the reconstruction of 90 family homes completely destroyed by flood waters in and around the Mahal stream area of Bagh District in Azad Jammu and Kashmir provinced the Mahal stream area of Bagh District in Azad Jammu and Kashmir province.
