A few words about my "Healthcare Reform Activism" list #hcr

My newest list, Healthcare Reform Activism, consists solely of people who tweet or retweet activist links about healthcare reform. It is not for people who just DISCUSS healthcare reform, it is for people who are ORGANIZING and/or TAKING ACTION. E.g. , tweets which count include:

-rallies, teach-ins, marches & other events;

-phone banks, letter/email/phone campaigns;

-information about facts regarding healthcare bills, healthcare;

-talking points, flyers,

Tweets which just discuss what's going on, or how well it's going, or whether Congress will do the right thing, etc., don't count. Democracy is not a spectator sport.

To get good healthcare reform, and save lives, the people need to organize, and that's what this list is about.

On Twitter the list is here.

On Listorious the list is here.

If you are tweeting and/or retweeting activist healthcare tweets and are not on the list, of if you know of someone else who is not on the list but should be, please let me know. I need as many activists as possible, so we can all work together to make meaningful healthcare reform a reality.

Thanks

Best regards

Ray

You could certainly add folks who tweet using the #ERIC tag. We've been active on HCR almost full time since last May. Best way is to check #Eric tag and see who's wearing the #ERIC banner/twibbon. Feel free to announce your list and use the #ERIC tag so they can see it and comment here to add their names.

The #ERIC campaign was about raising money for ONE member of ONE family because our healthcare system had failed him and his family. What does that do for all of the other millions of people who slipped between the cracks due to the greed of health insurance corporations. I do not consider that kind of activism to be effective, and it accomplished nothing for anyone other than a single family.

Sorry Ray, but I take offense to that. I have spent countless hours touring the country speaking out on behalf of #HCR by sharing my brother's story. I have lobbied Congress and have taken more meetings than I can count with everyone from the Senate Majority Leader to people inside the White House. I am sorry you don't know more about what #ERIC truly means. Thousands of people came together not only to help save my brother's life, but to work together after to ensure what happened to him would never happened again. I have set up a non-profit that has already helped save one life and is in the process of saving another. www.EricsLaw.com. You should really look into it.

*Thousands* of people were involved in the #ERIC campaign and have done so since last May and are still supporting health care. You can believe whatever you like but this campaign and the sacrifice of all of its supporters was a major online contributor to the online and offline health care reform movement. The only "list" I care about is the list of people who will be spared from dying as a result of this new health care law.

Dear Veronica, I stand corrected. Thank you for sharing with me and others the information about what you have done to work together with others to try to ensure that Eric's situation not be visited upon other families in the future. But I want to make it clear that it is my position that healthcare is a right not a privilege, and it should not be the subject of charity. No one should have to ask for contributions so that a resident of the wealthiest country on earth can get needed medical care. If you are working to see that moneys are raised to help others, through charitable contributions, that is well and good. But if you are not working to see that our country provides universal healthcare for all of its citizens, then I respectfully feel that you are on the wrong track.

Dear @VeronicaDLCruz my very humble apologies. After reviewing http://EricsLaw.com I see that you have been working for a strong public option in healthcare insurance, and I am with you. We are on the same side.

I am grateful to you for the work you have done @VeronicaDLCruz to ensure that other families should not have to go through what your family experienced. And I regret speaking before being fully familiar with the facts. Keep up your good work. #hcr
